I’ll cut right to the chase. My two favorite makeup looks (or trends, more like) from tonight’s 2015 Grammy Awards? Allover nude or natural-looking makeup (a la Beyonce, Gwen Stefani and Chrissy Teigen) and jewel toned eye makeup (think Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift). While the natural/nude trend was stunning on the carpet and definitely worth recreating, it’s a little less exciting to talk about. That’s why I’ll focus here on how to get my next fave look of the night: jewel toned eye makeup.
To get Gaga’s metallic emerald-hued eyes, makeup artist Sarah Tanno did the following:
Back in May I did my first installment of Good to the Last Drop and due to its popularity, I thought I’d keep the concept going. Here are the latest (and greatest!) beauty products I squeezed or scooped every last bit of product from …
Rodan + Fields Unblemish Oil-Control Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 20
This zinc- and titanium dioxide-based sunscreen protected my skin without causing additional breakouts. I love the non greasy formula that doesn’t turn my makeup all funky. Only down side is the size of the tube. I polished this off quickly.
Cle de Peau Beaute Concealer
I talk endlessly about this concealer and it breaks my heart to finish off a tube because a replacement costs a steep $70. It’s so worth it though. Nothing, and I mean nothing, covers blemishes and brown spots like this baby. It’s a small miracle.
Mario Bedascu Seaweed Night Cream
My skin is beyond prone to breakouts. It’s been my number one beauty problem since the day I got pregnant three years ago. Thanks to that issue, I have to slather on acne-fighting beauty products consistently, which are super drying. This night cream has been my savior though. It’s oil-free, but the hard-working hyaluronic acid moisturizes like a dream.
L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara
If you like slutty-looking lashes like I do (think thick, long and clumpy-in-a-good-way), this should be the next mascara you try. No question.
What was the last beauty product you finished? Please share!
While most actresses played it safe when it came to hair and makeup at last night’s Academy Awards, a couple, and only a couple of them went for it and tried statement-making looks — Olivia Wilde and Kerry Washington. They also both happen to be pregnant, so they get double kudos from me for not playing it safe and going for makeup looks we’ll be talking about around the water cooler (or coffee maker) today.
Kerry Washington went for on-trend vampy lips. The hue was stunning on her skin tone and looked modern and fresh — not the same ‘ol red lip we’ve been seeing for the past couple of years. Get a similar lip look with Chanel Rouge Allure in Envoutante, $35.
Olivia Wilde went for dramatic, retro lined eyes. A perfect complement to her black and white ensemble. Recreate the look with my sister Sam’s new favorite liquid liner: Eyeko Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner, $19

After seeing the metallic teal liner on the models at the Creatures of the Wind show, I knew I had to recreate the look. And, while I have a high-end teal liner at home, I didn’t have one on the road with me. But, after a late-night trip to Duane Reade (the best drugstore on the planet), I scored a very affordable look-alike. So, a big thanks to James Boehmer, Nars director of global artistry for inspiring the look. He used Nars Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Khao San Road, $24. I used Prestige Cosmetics Eye Liner in Lively Turquoise, $5.95. Both result in a compliment-worthy makeup look that’s so easy to do. Simply swipe bottom lashlines only with the liner. Smudge it a bit with a makeup brush or Q-tip (that’s what I used while on-the-go) and you’re set. Finish the eyes with black mascara on top lashes only.
