Beauty Problem Solver of the Week: L'Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Unscented

The Product: L’Oreal Paris Elnett Extra Strong Hold Unscented, $14.99

Why: If you’ve ever used the cult classic Elnett Satin Hairspray, which nearly every hairstylist keeps in their arsenal, you’ve probably learned what all of the fuss is about. It adds hold without leaving hair crunchy. It doesn’t leave a nasty flaky residue — even after you’ve used it multiple days in a row on hair that hasn’t been washed. And, it’s just flexible enough to make it a perfect “working” hairspray — you can spritz it on hair before curling, again without getting a crunchy finish, and create updos that don’t look wet or shellacked by the time you get every last hair in place.

But — yes, there is a but. The original scented hairspray was always too much for me. I have quite a sensitive sniffer, and though the scent wasn’t necessarily offensive (some of you may disagree with this), it would literally keep me up at night. Seriously, if I were to spray it on in the morning, that night I would lose sleep because every time I tossed or turned I would get a whiff of the scent.

That’s why, when L’Oreal Paris decided to come out with an unscented version, I was the first one in line to try it. Now I can get the performance I want from a fabulous hairspray without the overwhelming (in my opinion) scent. It’s the perfect product and I will buy it again and again.

Now tell me — have you ever used a product that you loved, but that had a scent you couldn’t handle? Speak up, I’d love to hear about it.

Can’t wait to try it! I love Kenra 25 however, it is a bit pricey since me and my girls all need a good spritz daily. We go through it so fast. I will for sure be purchasing a bottle of this. Thanks for the tip!
