Timeless Wedding Makeup for Brides or Guests-to-Be

Wedding season is quickly approaching. How many save-the-dates are plastered on your fridge? I already have two and know that a third is on its way, which means it’s time to talk wedding makeup.

If you’re a bride-to-be or a guest-to-be, going for a timeless makeup look that plays up your natural features is the way to go. The photos will live on (Thanks Facebook timeline!), so you won’t want to be the bride or guest who looked so 2012. If you’re digging for inspiration, look no further than the gorgeous and fresh makeup seen at the Marchesa Bridal Spring 2013 Runway Show.

Makeup artist Talia Shobrook created the look, which she calls “whimsical and effervescent” — one that will make you look both “innocent and sensual.” I think it’s stunning. Here’s how to get the look:

SKIN: Create a “fresh and dewy finish” with the following steps courtesy of Shobrook …

Step 1: Mix moisturizing cream with SPF (try Laura Mercier Mega-Moisturizer Crème SPF 15, $50) and a glow-enhancing primer (try Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Radiance, $30) and apply it on your face to get a natural-looking glow.

Step 2: Conceal under eye circles (try Laura Mercier Secret Concealer, $22) and hide any blemishes or redness with Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, $28)

Step 3: Apply a creamy foundation (try Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation, $42) to your face to perfect your complexion.

Step 4: Dust your T-zone with setting powder (try Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder, $34) to control unflattering shine, but leave the rest of your skin without powder for a glowing finish.

EYES: Play up your eyes to help them sparkle with these tips from Shobrook …

Step 1: Mix a honey-pink eyeshadow with grey (try Laura Mercier Sateen Eye Colours Stellar and Primrose, $22) and swipe them on your lids from lashlines to creases.

Step 2: Blend a taupe-colored shadow into your creases (try Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Fresco, $22).

Step 3: Line your top lids with a pinky-peach shimmery eyeshadow (try Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Ballet Pink, $22) creating a “slight flick” at the outer corners of your eyes. “The eyeliner should be thin, and bright,” says Shobrook.

Step 4: Line lower lashlines with a dark brown powder shadow using an eyeliner brush (try Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Truffle, $22). Blend it a bit to soften the line.

Step 5: Finish the eyes by applying a lengthening mascara and topping it with a coat of volumizing mascara just on the center section of your lashes.

CHEEKS AND LIPS: For easy on-the-go touch-ups, Shobrook used the same product on cheeks and lips. “The creamy formula adds a lovely natural flush to the face,” says Shobrook. Here’s how to apply it …

Step 1: Apply a soft berry pink lipstick to the apples of your cheeks and blend it well to give your face a natural flushed finish. Try Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Mango, $24 (this new shade will be available in stores September 2012)

Step 2: Blend the same lipstick on your lips to complete the look. Gorgeous!
